Christmas Story (Part 2)
Micca
by Corrie
Joseph was quite happy with himself. While Micca was distracted getting house supplies, he had purchase the hair combs (the ones Micca had admired) from Mr. Grahm. (He had been saving up for them for quite some time...) Fortunately, he managed to slip them in his coat pocket just before Micca came back… "O.k. Joseph, I think I’ve got everything on my list. What about you?" "Yeah, I’ve got what I need," Joseph replied as he gave Mr. Grahm a wink and nod:). "Micca did you remember to get the material for Jenny’s hair ribbons?" "Oh yes," she said. "I put them in my purse - thanks."

After packing the car, Joseph helped Micca get inside (being careful not to slam her long braid in the car door.) Surprisingly the weather had warmed up quite a bit, so on the way home they drove with the windows down .. Joseph was grinning from ear- to- ear.. He loved to see the wind blowing through Micca’s hair.. A few strands of her hair had come loose and they were dancing wildly all over the place! The couple arrived home just as it was getting dark… After the car was unpacked they went inside and fixed: toasted turkey sandwiches, fried potato strips and drank hot cocoa with marshmallows (and a dash of rum)- yum! After they put the used dishes away, Joseph started a fire in the fire place. Micca had gone upstairs to slip into something more ‘comfortable’ J . She then came back down stairs with her brush and their Bible..

Joseph pulled the big chair close to the fire, took Micca’s armload of supplies and set them on the floor. Then he gathered his bride in his arms and sat down with her in his lap.. He held her firmly with one arm (so she wouldn’t slide off:), and bent over to retrieve the brush and Bible.. Micca began to undo her braid, carefully running her fingers through her hair to work out the tangles. While she was combing her hair out, Joseph began to read:

"This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.... and they will call him "Immanuel," which means "God with us."

The Gospel of Mathew (Chapter 1:18 – 21, 23)

(The New Testament, NIV)

Joseph and Micca then swapped. Now that her hair was untangled Joseph began to brush her hair, very gently from the bottom up… What a lovely sight! Micca’s dark hair made a striking contrast with the sky-blue gown.. He slowly worked the brush down the long column of hair, until it started to shine… While Joseph was tending to her hair, Micca began to read: " But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord…" (Gospel of Luke Chapter 1: 10-12)

As Micca continued to read, Joseph seemed to be getting sidetracked… He put the brush down and began to place tender kisses in her hair and on the back of her exposed neck… Micca started to *giggle.* They would have to finish the passage another evening.. :+)
